About the role
Rotational Captain – Private 40m S/Y
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Captain to join a 40m private sailing yacht operating between the Mediterranean and the Pacific. The owners are passionate about surfing and water sports, so the ideal candidate will be active, adventurous and confident supporting a water-sports-focused programme. The yacht operates with five crew, requiring a hands-on Captain with strong leadership and sailing experience.
Start date: End of September
Itinerary: Mediterranean and Pacific
Package: Salary DOE in euros, 2:2 rotation
Experience/Skills required:
• Minimum three years’ experience as Captain on a similar-sized sailing yacht
• Strong sailing, navigation and yacht-handling experience
• Previous experience cruising in remote locations would be advantageous
• Genuine interest in surfing, water sports and an active outdoor lifestyle
• Confident managing a five-person crew within a close-knit environment
• Hands-on, organised and capable of overseeing all aspects of yacht operations
• Professional, discreet and comfortable working closely with private owners
Qualifications required:
• Master 500 GT Certificate of Competency – ideally
• STCW (fully updated)
• Seafarer’s Medical Certificate
• GMDSS certification
• Seaman’s Discharge Book (preferred)
