Port Logistic Manager Take the lead in managing port logistics for Rivertech’s fleet. As Port Logistic Manager, you oversee reservations, berth planning and port services while leading and supporting the Locks & Docks team. In addition to acting as a hands-on team lead actively supporting reservations, requests, and day to-day administration, the Port Logistics Manager ensures the efficient, cost-effective, and reliable handling of all port, berth, and related logistics activities for the fleet. The role combines operational leadership with a strong focus on cost control, process improvement, and stakeholder management. Position The Port Logistic Manager reports to the operational Fleet manager, and manages the reservation managers and /or Locks & Docks team with responsibility for staffing, workload allocation, and team performance. He or she acts as the central escalation point for all matters related to ports, berths, port services, costs, and operational issues concerning the administrative handling of berths and associated services. Qualification Profile • Education & Experience: Vocational or higher professional education level (MBO/HBO), preferably in Logistics, Maritime Management, Business Administration, or a related field. • Proven leadership experiences and a strong affinity with financial data and budget management are required. • Excellent command of Excel and Microsoft Office. Previous experience within the maritime industry is a strong advantage. • Languages: Fluency in English is essential. German and/or French is considered an advantage. Responsibilities • Operations & Planning: Ensure timely and accurate reservations for ports, berths, and services such as water, fuel, electricity, and waste disposal, in coordination with sailing schedules, vessels, and port authorities. • Leadership & Process Optimization: Manage and support the team, establish clear working procedures and escalation lines, and standardize administrative processes. • Finance & Control: Provide transparency into costs, monitor budgets, develop KPIs and management reports, and actively identify and implement cost-saving opportunities. Disruption Management: Coordinate and respond to operational challenges, such as high or low water levels, changes to sailing schedules, or unavailable berths. • Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with ports, suppliers, and external partners to support both operational requirements and commercial agreements. Skills and Competencies • Leadership: Uses a coaching leadership style, provides clear direction, and encourages ownership and accountability within the team. • Analytical Skills: Works in a data-driven manner and translates operational data into meaningful and actionable management information. • Organizational Skills: Able to quickly switch between different priorities, vessels, operational requirements, and stakeholders. • Communication & Resilience: Communicates clearly and effectively and remains calm and solution-oriented under unexpected operational pressure. Working conditions • Location: Office-based in Arnhem, working regular office hours within a dynamic and international environment. • Travel: Occasional travel to vessels, ports, or suppliers may be required as part of the role.
