The main responsibility is to manage sailing schedules and coordinate docking reservations, working in close collaboration with Corporate Fleet Managers, port authorities, ship captains, and the client’s itinerary planner. Key duties include booking dockings, arranging reservations for essential services such as water, fuel, and electricity, and ensuring all necessary resources are available for the vessels at each docking location. The Locks & Docks Manager also handles a variety of administrative tasks to support these operations, maintaining accurate records and timely communication with all involved parties. Given the dynamic nature of the role, the Locks & Docks Manager is expected to be proactive, highly organized, and capable of working under pressure. This position is essential to the success of our river cruise operations, and it requires attention to detail, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Position in the organization • The Locks & Docks Manager reports to the Nautical Director (functional), the Fleet Manager (operational), or the Managing Director (hierarchical). • The Locks & Docks Manager works in a team with Corporate Captains, Fleet Managers, and other Locks & Docks Managers for a certain number of assigned ships. • In the absence of other Locks & Docks Managers, additional ships can be added to the scope. Tasks & Responsibilities • Book harbors , dockings, and other (water, fuel, waste) for river cruisers. • Check and validate invoices and produce reports at customer or management wish. • Administrative work, related with locks & docks and other requested tasks that may occur. • Adjust sailing programs, in automated program or Excel. • Process E-mails accurately • Plan & Schedule ahead in line with customer/ touroperator’s demand • Cooperate with colleagues and customers • Coordinate workload for own work, your colleagues and weekend back-up. Skills and Competencies • Familiar with MS-office and other automated systems. • Flexible and positive team player. • Accurate, very precise and stress resistant. • Good communicative skills both verbal and in writing in language matching assigned ships. • Ability to listen/read and convert customer wish into correct sailing program. Working Conditions • Office job, in principle normal office hours, except for high/low water periods. • Small team, with back-up. • Tasks can be stressful as of time pressure or non-availability of dockings etc. • Availability and willingness to travel occasionally.
